‘Nutrients’ was designed and programmed by Margaret and Keith Vernon.  Margaret teaches Food Technology in Hampshire and wanted a diet analysis program that was easy for pupils to use.  She wanted them to spend time understanding food labels and nutrition data rather than in using complicated software.   Keith was interested in computer programming and wanted a hobby – it turned into a major project!

Margaret and Keith have an ongoing commitment to updating and improving ‘Nutrients’.   The software was originally developed for Acorn computers and the ‘Windows’ version was introduced about six years ago and has recently been updated.  The new features included in Version 2 are intended to increase versatility and the new worksheets provide ready made investigations that are designed to enhance pupil’s knowledge and understanding of nutrition.
