An Overview

The design of ‘Nutrients’ has resulted in software that is easy to use.  Menus, the toolbar and windows use formats similar to those used by 'Microsoft'.  Familiar keyboard shortcuts, print and save routines have been incorporated.  Interactive help is provided to ensure that minimal teacher assistance is required.  ‘Getting Started with Nutrients’ can be downloaded from this website and printed out to assist new users.

Toolbar

The toolbar shown above allows easy access to all main features of 'Nutrients'.

The new ‘Signpost’ label feature has made ‘Nutrients’ even more accessible for younger and lower ability users but the clarity and guidance it provides is appreciated by all users.  The option to export data to 'Excel' caters for more able KS4 pupils and also offers plenty of scope for older students to carry out more detailed investigations.

‘Nutrients’ may be used to investigate the nutritional content of: a specific recipe, the foods eaten by one person in a day, a selection of similar foods  e.g. TVP, Quorn, Tofu and minced beef.  Foods are divided into categories and typical portion information is provided to help users enter appropriate amounts.
